2023 Colorado Peach Harvest In Full Swing

The 2023 peach harvest is ramping up in Colorado.

Harvest of early “cling” varieties started a couple of weeks ago, and orchards are beginning to harvest the first freestone varieties this week.

The Colorado peach harvest is technically a week behind its usual schedule this year, but you wouldn’t know it now, as fresh tree-ripened peaches are hitting local stands around the state.

Most orchards ramp up production during peak season, and Colorado Palisade peaches will be finding their way all across the country soon.

“Our first batch of tree-ripened peaches ships out the week of August 7th.”, says Nate Meyer of The Colorado Peach Company.

Demand for peaches remains strong across the country, due to states like Georgia and South Carolina losing most of this year’s peach crop to a late spring freeze.

“We do expect to ship some limited wholesale quantities out of state this year, but we prioritize online retail orders and local fruit stands before taking on new wholesale business.”, said Meyer.

Each year, Colorado produces around 2% of the nation’s total peach crop.

If you’re fortunate enough to live in Colorado, you can find tree-ripened Palisade peaches at your local farmers markets and roadside stands now through mid-September.

If you live outside the state, you can order Colorado Palisade peaches online, shipped to your home or office through mid-September.

Colorado’s peach season is short, but highly anticipated, as people flock to peach stands across the state for their boxes of the some of the sweetest, juiciest peaches in the world.
